Future Ancestors¶
The past is not dead, it is living in us, and will be alive in the future which we are now helping to make.
Future Ancestors is a family of creative technical projects, ideas and practices. The projects are living source code; the ideas and practices evolve on this site.
Our name is our philosophy: whatever we create outlives the moment of its creation, reinterpreted in a changing universe, encountered by those we will never meet. We become future ancestors through what we leave behind, mindful of what flows through us to those who follow.
These documents guide us:
- Our ethos explains why we create.
- Care of community describes how we create together.
- We are clear for whom we create.
- The projects are what we create.
- When we communicate, our prose and technical style guides craft our words.
- We have a careful and conscientious way of working with language models.
